On the third day of the 7th Christmas International Tournament of Hockey Amateurs for the Prize of the President of the Republic of Belarus finished group round of the tournament. Team Germany and Austria were deciding, who would be the best among the worst in group "A" and Minsk Ice Palace presented a battle for the chance to continue the tournament in the finals on "Minsk-Arena”.

German old-timers continued to please fans with an open hockey. Exciting games, lots of goals in their games with their participation and smiles on the bench - all these facts show that Germans enjoy their play on ice. However, in the game against Austria, they were clearly ready not just for a large portion of applauses, but also to get two points. Germans did not win in Minsk tournament for three years.

Attempts of players in black-red-yellow shirts to get on a long distance in score failed at the end of the second period, when Austrians nearly reached their opponents - 5:4. But in the third period "Bundesmanschaft" outplayed their counterparts with a score of 4:0 and left team Austria on the last place in group for the first time in history of the tournament. 9:4 - the long-waited victory for team Germany.

Man of the match Germany - Austria were recognized: team captain Manfred Schuster (Germany) and Jan Czerlinski (Team Austria), who scored two goals.

Meantime battle for the second place in Group “B” took place in Minsk Ice Palace. Swiss ice hockey players looked forward to repeat their last year's achievement and play in the match for the bronze medals. But Ukrainians had another idea about the winner of that game and they outplayed guests from alpine country and, like three years ago, they will play in the game for third place.
