The second day of the 7th Christmas International Amateur Ice Hockey Tournament for the prize of the President of the Republic of Belarus defined teams that would compete for the podium on “Minsk-Arena”. That will be the teams from Belarus, Russia and Finland. All of them won in their matches.

In the afternoon Finns in the elegant style defeated Austrians and probably stayed to watch their opponents tomorrow. Team of the President of the Republic of Belarus, representing Belarus at this tournament, is unlikely to show all its secrets before the final, but still looked impressive.

Hosts started the game with a good pace and discouraged Germans with fast attacks and powerful shots. Followed by the best snipers of the Belarusian team like Andrei Astashevich, Pavel Bely and Sergei Shitkovskiy they successfully realized most of their scoring chances. The first two players scored three goals and Sergei Shitkovskiy used two penalty shots with 100% efficiency. Head of the State made three assists.

Germans once again showed attacking-style hockey, scored bunch of goals, but six successful shots in their performance was not enough to win. 11:6 - victory for Belarusians, in which the nice spot was put by Denis Kurdeko, who sent the puck under the crossbar of the opponent`s goal.

Man of the Match Belarus - Germany were recognized: Andrei Astashevich (Team Belarus) and Marcus Jocher (Team Germany). Both scored three goals in the game.

Russians in the game against team Switzerland scored five goals in the period, but the end of the third period was a bit nervous, because opponent was at the distance of one goal. Swiss even played with empty net, but Evgeniy Chizhmin scored on the last minute and stole Swiss hopes for a draw. Now hockey players from Alps have to beat Ukrainians in order to reach the bronze medal game.
