Belarus team won the first game on the International Ice Hockey Junior Tournament "President's Sport Club Cup". Hosts were better Slovakian team on the arena of the hockey club "Youth-Minsk" and finished the match in their favour with a score - 6:2.
Slovaks held two games before the tournament with team Russia, both team rosters include players born in 1996 (U-16), in Minsk. In both meetings the former hosts of the IIHF World Championship did not experience the taste of victory. Therefore, on the opening match ice hockey players in blue form were extremely motivated.
Crowded stands and older Belarusians didn`t embarrassed guests and two periods they were able to keep the game tight. Andrei Kovalev`s team only in the final third of the game could change the situation on ice, scored three goals in three minutes and knocked out the opponent.
Representatives of the first line of Belarus team Andrei Ambrozheychik and Maxim Valkov showed good skills. That pair participated in four out six scoring moments. Maros Surovy from Slovakia scored twice.
Russia and Slovenia competed on ice before the match between hosts and Slovaks. Last year winners of the tournament examined debutants, who brought to Minsk junior (U-18) team. Despite the two year age difference, the Russians easily outplayed ice hockey players from the shores of Adriatic Sea - 9:2. Leader and team captain Ivan Nikolishin marked with four assists. Evgeni Svechnikov scored two goals and made two assists. Opponents only twice got the puck into the net of Sergey Korobov, the best player of the match in the Russian team. And both times it made Nick Pem, in turn, the best in the Slovenes.
