Traditional World Cup stage “Belarus Open Sambo Championship for prizes of the President of the Republic of Belarus” will start on February 23 year 2012 in the Sports Palace. Once again, the tournament marks a kind of jubilee: the fifth consecutive year it has the status of the World Cup stage. This time representatives of 20 countries will compete for the title. Sportsmen came from Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Moldova, Latvia, Morocco, Serbia, Turkmenistan, South Korea, Greece, Ukraine, Lithuania, Russia, Uzbekistan, Turkey, Romania, Tajikistan, Armenia and Iran. In addition to the title wrestlers will be awarded prizes from the President`s Sports Club. Swiss watches are waiting for their owners in the traditional categories: "For the best technique" and "Will to Win". Last year they were presented to Yuri Rybak (Belarus) and Martin Ivanov (Bulgaria). Gifts from the club, as usual, will receive all the participants, judges and special guests of the competition. On the Defender of the Fatherland Day following representatives of the host country will come out on the carpets: Andrei Kurlypo and Dzhambulat Akhmadov (52 kg), Ivan Aniskevich, Arif Bagirov and Alexander Lyasso (57 kg), Igor Sedoi, Vahe Toutkhalian (62 kg), Alexander Koksha and Alexander Marudov (68 kg), Stepan Popov and Alexei Romanchik (74 kg), Alex Stepankov (82 kg), Evgeniy Semochkin (100 kg), Yuri Rybak and Alexander Vahovyak (+100 kg). Last year Belarus team had got 14 medals (5 gold, 5 silver and 4 bronze) and the first place in the team standings. Hopefully, this time host will not step down. |
