President`s sports club acts as one of the organizers of the International competitions "Belarus Open Sambo Championship for the prizes of the President of the Republic of Belarus". Tournament has the informal status of "the small world championship". Palace of sports has hosted 11 tournaments of that kind till year 2007.
Nowadays Belarus Open championship is tournament of the supreme "C" category and can be compared with of the World Cup stage. The President of the Republic of Belarus is rewarded with the Gold award of the highest rank for big personal contribution to development and popularization of sambo by the International amateur federation of sambo (FIAS).

History of the tournament remember such world famous masters as N.Tsypandin, N.Bagirov, J.Senazhatsky, V.Kozlovskaja, who are Belarus national team members and also ten times world champions - T.Moskvina from Belarus and M.Hasanov from Russia, whose names by right are brought in the Guiness World Records Book.  

The geography of tournament widens every year. In 2007 fighters from 17 countries competed for the medals. Sportsmen from Azerbaijan, Armenia, Bulgaria, Greece, Kazakhstan, Latvia, Lithuania, Moldova, Russia, Romania, Tadjikistan, Тurkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Ukraine, Czech Republic and Japan visited Minsk. But in the team competition hosts traditionally celebrated the win.   

Fights of the tournament are served by the best international referees. Fans and visitors are pleased not only by fascinating fights, but also by professional direction of the event. Every year organizers of competitions try to do the utmost to make a real holiday atmosphere for fans and sportsmen on this tournament. For example, during the anniversary tenth tournament President`s sports club made a lottery draw among spectators for the first time in history of domestic sports. Visitors witnessed varied entertaining program and gold fireworks at the end of the finals.

Two special prizes have been founded besides the regular awards in year 2007: "For will to win" and "For the best skill". Jury Rybak and Dmitry Bazylev became owners of digital photo cameras, which were presented by the President`s sports club.

By sportsmen, referees and representatives of mass-media opinion the organization of the tournament meets the highest world standards. For the last years the International competitions "Belarus Open sambo championship for prizes of the President of the Republic of Belarus" became the significant event for all fans amateurs of this fighting art.
