5th Republican Ice Hockey Amateur Competitions

Competitions have high status and serious level of the tournament not only due to personal participation of Head of State. There are also other reasons, like coverage of all regions of the country, representative rosters and a fairly high level of amateur’s skills. All these factors attract more and more fans to the stands, which mean that the popularity of hockey and healthy lifestyle in the country is growing. Andrei Skabelka, Vladimir Tsyplakov, Alexander Andrievsky, Mikhail Zakharov, former legendary professional players, enjoy playing in the national amateur competitions.

Best Belarus ice halls will host teams from all regions of the country and the hockey team of the President of the Republic of Belarus. They will challenge for the Cup of the President`s Sports Club third year in a row. Competitions include group and final stages.

The first game of the competitions was played on November 5th year 2007, when the hockey team of the President of the Republic of Belarus met the team of Minsk region.

Winner of the First competitions became the team of the President of the Republic of Belarus. In the final game it defeated the team of Minsk region with a score 17:4. In the fight for the bronze medals team of Gomel region outplayed in a very close game players from the Grodno region - 6:4. The following places were as follows: 7th place team got Mogilev region, 6th place - Brest region and 5th won the team form Vitebsk region.

Second Republican Ice Hockey Amateur Competitions for the prizes of the President’s Sports Club got the new champion. Team of Gomel region in hard and spectacular game defeated the clear favorite of the tournament - the team of the President of the Republic of Belarus. Bronze medals of the Second Republican Ice Hockey Amateur Competitions for the prizes of the President’s Sports Club took the team of the Minsk region. It overcame the hockey amateurs from Vitebsk region - 10:4. Following places were occupied by the team of Grodno region (5th), Brest (6th) and Mogilev (7th).

Third Republican Ice Hockey Amateur Competitions for the prizes of the President’s Sports Club brought on the top team of the President of the Republic of Belarus. Second place took team from Grodno region. It became their best result. Third step on the podium was occupied by the previous winners - Gomel region team. Brest ice hockey amateurs became fourth. Strong team of Minsk region finished on the fifth place, Vitebsk - on the 6th and team from Mogilev region took the last.

Fourth Republican Ice Hockey Amateur Competitions for the prizes of the President’s Sports Club had the same winner as the previous one. But the tournament was much more competent, as President`s team got first loss on the group stage. But in the final series Minsk region team, the sensation maker, could resist anymore and was defeated in both matches. Team from Brest region left their neighbours from Gomel without medals for the first time. Previous finalist, Grodno region team stopped on the 5th place. Teams from Vitebsk and Mogilev didn`t make any progress from the last two.
